Anaerobic Digestion

This course has been developed for anaerobic digestion (AD) site managers and operators who need to gain essential knowledge and understanding about the science behind the biogas process. The Increasing Methane Yields: understanding the science behind anaerobic digestion course is designed to help increase AD site’s methane yields and understand factors which could assist in reducing the risk of future incidents. Developed in conjunction with leading bioeconomy consultants, course covers four key areas of Feedstock Procurement and Preparation; The Process – Anaerobic Digestion; Output 1 – Biogas; Output 2 –Digestate, and includes a combination of presentations, exercises, case studies and group discussions covering:

  • Regulatory compliance
  • Safety considerations
  • Efficiency gains

Delegates will also learn the importance of controlling and understanding variables such as:

  • Carbon to Nitrogen Ratio
  • PH
  • Gas Flow Rate
  • Temperature
  • Acidity

The knowledge gained through this course will improve the confidence of plant operatives and will enable them to contribute more to improvements in optimising methane yields and profitability.
